Question 1: Are five days enough to explore Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and plan a day trip to Longewala?

Answer: Yes. Five days is the minimum recommended time to comfortably explore Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and plan a day trip to Longewala Post.

Ideally, you should arrive in Jodhpur on the morning of day one and explore the main attractions of the Blue City. On day two, you can continue Jodhpur sightseeing until lunchtime and then travel to Jaisalmer, reaching your hotel by night.

Day three can be planned for Jaisalmer Fort and city sightseeing, followed by your stay at a Jaisalmer desert camp. On day four, you can leave from Sam Sand Dunes for a day trip to Tanot Mata Temple, Longewala Post, and the Longewala War Museum. The remaining sightseeing in Jaisalmer can be completed on day five, followed by your departure from Jaisalmer by evening.

Question 2: How far is Jaisalmer from Jodhpur, and Longewala from Jaisalmer?

Answer: Jaisalmer is approximately 275 km from Jodhpur, and the journey generally takes around 5 hours by road.

From Jaisalmer, Sam Sand Dunes is around 40 to 45 km away. Longewala is approximately 125 km from Sam Sand Dunes. Normally, we plan the Longewala tour from Sam because you will be staying at a desert camp on the night of day three.

Question 3: Do I need to get a permit to visit Longewala Post?

Answer: Yes, a permit is required to visit Longewala Post. Please also note that only Indian nationals are permitted to visit Longewala Post, and foreign nationals are not allowed to enter the restricted area.

To arrange the permit, our driver will first stop at Tanot Mata Temple, where the required permit form will be filled out. After completing the formalities and obtaining permission, the permit will need to be shown at the entrance of Longewala Post.

Question 4: When is the best time to plan this five days Jodhpur Jaisalmer tour?

Answer: The best time to plan a 5 days Jodhpur Jaisalmer tour with Longewala is generally from September to March.

Among these months, November, December, January, and February are considered the main tourist season. Special dates around Diwali and the following few weeks, 28 December to 2 January, and the Jaisalmer Desert Festival are considered peak-season dates.

During these periods, demand for hotels and desert camps is very high, and in some cases, room and camp prices can increase significantly or even double. We therefore recommend booking your tour well in advance.

Question 5: If I book this tour package with you, how much advance payment is required, and what is the cancellation policy?

Answer: To book a 5 days 4 nights Jodhpur Jaisalmer tour package with a Longewala Post visit, you need to pay an advance of 25% of the total package amount. The next 25% is payable around one week before the tour, while the remaining 50% can be paid directly towards the cab and hotel arrangements as per the booking terms.

The advance amount paid towards taxi and cab charges is 100% refundable if the booking is cancelled at least 14 days before the tour date. For hotels and desert camps, we will share the individual cancellation policy of each property at the time of booking, and any applicable refund will be processed according to that property’s cancellation policy.
