FAQ on about Jaisalmer Desert Safari with Khuri Desert Dunes
Question 1: How far is Khuri from Jaisalmer and is Khuri and Sam the same place?
Answer: Khuri is approximately 60 km drive from Jaisalmer city, in the southwest part of Jaisalmer district. And no, Khuri is a completely different place from Sam. At Khuri, you will not find that much commercial activity, but still a good amount of camel safari, which is the main activity here because sand dunes here are not allowed for jeep safari. Plus, the experience of visiting a desert village at Khuri, which has now been turned into a tourist village, lets you see the life and handicrafts of local people of Khuri, Jaisalmer.
Question 2: How is the camel safari in Khuri different from other places?
Answer: Most of our camel safaris take place at Sam, which is like from our desert camp to Sam Sunset Point and then back. But at Khuri, it’s a completely different thing altogether. At Khuri, your camel safari will start from the Khuri village. You will be riding past the mud homes, desert farms, and then the camel rider will take you to the 60 to 70 meter tall dunes of Khuri, which are very beautiful.
Question 3: Can I enjoy a jeep safari at Khuri?
Answer: No, Khuri is not the best option to enjoy a jeep safari because sometimes it’s not allowed here. For jeep safari tours, we will take you to Sam, which is a half an hour to 40 minute drive away from Khuri.
Question 4: What if I want to stay at Khuri, are hotels available?
Answer: Yes, in Khuri, you have 2 options. First is the luxury desert camps and deluxe desert camps available at Khuri, and the second option is a homestay in Khuri village. I will suggest you check out option two.
Question 5: What type of dinner is provided in this desert safari tour?
Answer: In Khuri, we provide homemade food in a homestay setup, where live performances are also conducted, rather than a buffet dinner in a desert camp.
